Rising Inflation in Maharashtra and Its Impact on the Standard of Living of the General Population: An Economic Study
The pervasive challenge of rising inflation has become a critical focal point in contemporary macroeconomic discourse, deeply affecting the purchasing power and overall well-being of populations worldwide. In the context of India, the state of Maharashtra, serving as the industrial and financial epicenter of the country, presents a complex landscape where global economic shocks intersect with profound regional socio-economic disparities. This paper presents an economic study exploring how rising inflation explicitly impacts the standard of living among the general population in Maharashtra. Traditionally, macroeconomic studies assess price stability through national aggregates, which inadvertently masks the severe localized degradation of living standards, healthcare access, and educational affordability. To address this literature gap, we propose a comprehensive, mixed-methods framework that synthesizes macroeconomic drivers of inflation, household behavioral expectations, and micro-level socio-economic health determinants. Our methodology relies on combining theoretical spatial vulnerability mapping with proposed cross-sectional econometric analyses to evaluate household distress across varied districts. Through the formulation of a hypothetical evaluation plan involving
