Abstract

This paper explores how language in English literature and communication becomes a powerful tool for social change and activism. Through speeches, poems, novels, plays, and digital expressions, writers and activists use words to question injustice, shape public opinion, and motivate people to act. The study shows that rhetorical agency – the power to use language effectively – has played a major role in historical and modern movements. By examining literary texts and contemporary activism, this paper highlights how English language and literature continue to influence society. The paper also discusses how literature fosters empathy, challenges dominant narratives, and gives voice to marginalized communities. Additionally, it explores the role of social media and digital platforms in expanding the reach of activist messages, making language a global tool for awareness and mobilization. Finally, the paper emphasizes that mastering rhetorical strategies in English empowers individuals to contribute meaningfully to societal transformation.
