Abstract
The intersection of digital technology and grassroots democracy has redefined governance and women’s empowerment in India. Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs), constitutionally mandated with a minimum of one-third reservation for women, are increasingly integrating digital platforms and tools to enhance efficiency, inclusivity, and accountability. This paper explores how digital pathways—such as e-Governance platforms, mobile connectivity, digital literacy programs, and social media—are transforming the participation, performance, and empowerment of women in PRIs. A review of literature and case studies provides insight into both the opportunities and limitations of this digital transition.
